Nightclubs, discos, clubs and bars

Skopje is a happening city during night, especially in the hot summer season, although bars and clubs have to close earlier due to a recent stricter opening hour licensing regime. Nevertheless there is a great variety of cafés, bars, clubs and (open air) discos which suit every mood and taste. You will find a vibrating nightlife scene with a lot of spots offering live music. Especially if you are of the dancing kind you will be fully satisfied since there are many open air clubs where interesting local and international host DJs are spinning their records.

Many interesting night spots can be found along the river Vardar. When you start walking from hotel the Holiday Inn Skopje you will find many bars, restaurants and clubs where fun is assured, especially during the summer season when many venues have opened their outdoor terraces. There are also many cafés and clubs located along the Kej 13 Noemvri. On the ground floor of the Trgovski Center you can find St. Patrick Irish Pub (Kej 13 Novemvri), a favourite hangout of expats in Skopje. St. Patrick Irish Pub serves Guiness, decent prized tasty meals and has often live concerts. The large number of foreigners also atracts local (semi-pro) girls. Another good spot to meet local girls on Kej Noemvri 13 in the city shopping centre is Midnight that provides good opportunities for pulling local girls. Also in the city shopping centre you can find club Process where usually house, hip hop and R&B is on the menu. The club is hosting many guest DJs and organizes many special events and parties, also for students.

Close to the City Square you will find great cafes and clubs like Opium, Exit, Aqua café which are situated next to each other. In Makedonija street downtown Skopje you will find cool and stylish venues like La Cafe, Segafredo, Barcelona, Pasha, Living-room, Trampoline and Wall Street Café. Jazz-lovers will feel at ease in T-Club (Makedonija street 17), a dimly lit lounge bar with Fashion TV on the screen, frequented by the hip crowd of Skopje. A good starting point when exploring nightlife in Skopje is Blue Café Urban Bar on Veljko Vlahović street (Ul) 4 2/3 in the New Town of Skopje. Blue Café Urban Bar is a very stylish modern bar that serves excellent cocktails and the perfect location to meet your local date. A romantic ambiance can be found as well in Lezet, also in the New Town on Nikola Trimpare street. Lezet is a groovy bar with soft lighting, lounge music and comfortable furnishings providing great opportunities for intimate moments. Nearby, on Nikola Vapcarov street 2/4, you can find Trend. Like the name says already, Trend is a very fashionable place which houses a restaurant, café, cocktail bar and a nightclub downstairs which is frequented by the hip and trendy people of Skopje.

The place to be in Skopje for late night clubbers during summer is the city park where you will find popular and prestigious open air discos like Element and Colosseum. Element has often international guest DJs on the flyer and makes a great place for dancing during hot summer nights surrounded by dozens of beautiful local girls dressed in short skirts. Outside the summer season you can find Element on Dame Gruev street in the basement of the Taiwan’s center Plaza. Another popular venue in the City Park is Havana Club, an energetic club that attracts lovely local ladies dressed to kill. Colosseum on Vasil Glavino is the place to see and be seen popular with the young and beautiful of Skopje. Colosseum is always packed with an outgoing crowd of locals bouncing to house and techno. Also good opportunities for dancing-till-dawn are provided by Club Mnt, a lively, trendy club located in the basement of Macedonian National Theater. There on Kej Dimitar Vlahov you can also find La Fabrique, a popular club with a big variety of DJ’s that gets jam-packed after 10pm.

The Hard Rock Club on Dimitar Vlahov street is another good venue to visit while exploring Skopje nightlife. The number of lovely ladies in Hard Rock Club is surprisingly high and it has a laid back atmosphere where it easy to mingle with locals. For house and techno lovers Zen Bar in the Yucan Shopping Centre is another must visit in Skopje. Club Duomo on Ivo Ribar Lola Boulevard 67 is an upscale late-night bar that offers live music and cabaret. It is an excellent place to dance the night away in company of gorgeous local girls. For alternative music you should head to Club Kastro near the central railway station where rock, indie and punk music is on the menu. Mayday (Naum N. Borce 61) is another hangout of the alternative crowd in Skopje. Mayday is in weekends packed with the rock kids of Skopje enjoying rock and metal music. Downstairs you will find the stylish oriental Pasha café. An evergreen in Skopje nightlife is Van Gogh on Mihail Cokov 74 visited by a cheerful crowd looking for unpretentious fun. Van Gogh offers different programs and themed nights throughout the week like live music on Mondays, salsa lessons on Wednesdays, and Beerfest nights on Thursdays with cheap prized beers. The weekends in Van Gogh are dedicated to techno and hip-hop.
